The Chamber was founded on October
8th 1958, and was one of the first organizations in
the construction camp known as Page, Arizona. In the early
years, the focus of the Chamber was to act as a welcoming
committee to the many engineers who came from all over the world
to see, first hand, the tremendous scope of the Glen Canyon Dam
Project.
Members of the Chamber organized dances, developed events and
hosted meetings of the very few business people who were here at
the time. Members helped to build churches and even helped to
create the first golf course in Page.
When the bridge was completed, providing travel north and south,
the Chamber built a little building on wheels, looking somewhat
like a ticket booth, maintained by volunteers who would answer
questions, find places for people to stay and tell them about
the area and of the great opportunities Page had to offer,
Members of the Chamber united to build the John Wesley Powell
Museum at the location of the original Concrete Testing Lab
where it remains to this day.
The Chamber continues to work diligently in the interest of the
City of Page, recruiting new businesses and new residents, and
by providing active support to our Business Community and to the
City of Page in its planning efforts
From our inception, our goal has been to see that Page-Lake
Powell is the best that it can be – A Place For All
Seasons.
Thanks for looking in on us!
